Rs 61,500 Crore Highway Project to Connect Siliguri, Guwahati and Shillong

The Indian road transport ministry has announced a Rs 61,500 crore highway project aimed at linking Siliguri, Guwahati, and Shillong. A separate expressway connectivity initiative between Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and Siliguri has also been launched. Together, these projects are designed to establish high-speed road connectivity between Uttar Pradesh and the northeastern states. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari highlighted the strategic importance of improving infrastructure access to the region.
