A magisterial inquiry has uncovered serious failures by several government bodies in the lead-up to a deadly fire in Delhi that claimed 23 lives. The investigation, spanning over 110 pages, found lapses involving the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Police, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited, the Tourism Department, and public-health licensing authorities. Notably, a licence was reportedly renewed just one day before the fire broke out. The probe suggests that regulatory and oversight failures across multiple agencies may have contributed to the tragedy.
