Cloudflare acquires Deno, ends its runtime development to focus on Workers model

Cloudflare has acquired the team behind the Deno Company. The Deno runtime will enter a maintenance phase for a year before development ends, and the Deno Deploy service will be shut down in the coming months. Cloudflare's primary goal is to invest the acquired talent and technology into its own open-source workerd runtime. The aim is to make the Cloudflare Workers model a mainstream platform for building distributed applications, even outside Cloudflare's own infrastructure.
