Clear Ideas has introduced Agent Runtime, a system that separates AI agent definitions from the infrastructure required to execute them. Developers define agents using portable YAML or TypeScript manifests that describe prompts, tools, variables, and control flow, while host applications retain control over credentials, compute, and authorization. A distinct Agent Run Manifest handles per-invocation inputs and operational settings, keeping reusable logic cleanly isolated from runtime decisions. The runtime supports in-process, child-process, and remote execution boundaries without requiring changes to the agent manifest itself. It also includes checkpointing and event streaming to enable run recovery, resumption, and observability across different environments.
