China Eyes New Economic Corridor Through Bangladesh and Myanmar Near India

China is reportedly planning a new economic corridor running through Bangladesh and Myanmar, bordering India to the east. This development follows China's establishment of access to the Arabian Sea through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to India's west. The new eastern corridor would extend China's strategic and economic connectivity further into South and Southeast Asia. India has previously raised strong objections to CPEC, as it passes through Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The latest corridor plans are seen as a continuation of China's broader regional infrastructure expansion strategy surrounding India.
