Chhattisgarh HC: Foreigners Cannot Claim Government Land via Writ Petitions

The Chhattisgarh High Court dismissed writ petitions filed by Bangladeshi refugees who were seeking protection from eviction from government land. The court ruled that foreigners cannot assert rights over state property without a valid legal entitlement. Although the petitioners argued they had occupied the land for more than six decades, the court rejected this as grounds for legal protection. Citing Supreme Court precedents on unauthorized occupation, the bench clarified that prolonged possession does not confer any legal rights over government property.
