British runner sets record crossing the Alps via 8-country Via Alpina route

Sophie Woods has become the fastest person to run the Via Alpina, a long-distance trail spanning eight European countries. She completed the gruelling route despite facing extreme weather conditions, including storms and temperatures reaching as high as 37 degrees Celsius. Woods also had to navigate around floods and wildfires during her record-breaking run. Speaking about her achievement, she emphasised that the motivation behind the feat was the spirit of adventure rather than the record itself.
