BJD Opposes UPI Transaction Fee Proposal, Urges Centre to Seek Alternate Funding

The Biju Janata Dal has strongly opposed the central government's proposal to levy charges on UPI transactions above Rs 2,000. Party leaders argued that the government should explore other avenues to fund digital payment infrastructure rather than burdening users. BJD suggested that dividends from the Reserve Bank of India could serve as an alternative funding source. The party cautioned that imposing such fees would negatively impact both merchants' revenues and consumers' spending.
