OpenAI Decisions API integrated into Strands Agents for tool and model selection

OpenAI has released a Decisions API designed to answer bounded questions directly. Developers can now integrate this API into Strands Agents to pre-select tools or route queries between AI models. The integration helps narrow a model's available toolset before it processes a request, improving accuracy and efficiency. It can also direct simpler queries to cheaper models, reserving more powerful ones for complex tasks. Both implementations are available in a public repository and are functional.

OneScreenOut CLI generates AI-powered outdoor breaks for developers

OneScreenOut is a Python command-line tool developed for the Hacktoberfest Open-Source AI Challenge. The tool generates a three-step mission card based on available time, surroundings, and energy level, then prompts users to leave their screens. It operates entirely locally without hosting, requiring users to download the project and run Ollama. The project was submitted between October 5-11 and is available under an MIT license.
