India's Direct Tax Collections Jump 23% to Rs 9.55 Lakh Crore by Aug 10

India's gross direct tax collections reached Rs 9.55 lakh crore as of August 10, marking a year-on-year surge of over 23 percent. Net collections after refunds stood at Rs 8.11 lakh crore, driven primarily by non-corporate tax receipts. Corporate tax collections and Securities Transaction Tax also recorded notable growth compared to the same period last year. However, refunds issued by the government rose only marginally during this period.
