Shukla stated that there is no question of the Indian opener stepping away from the game at this point. Sharma himself has reportedly expressed a clear desire to continue representing India at the highest level. The veteran batter is said to be targeting a spot in India's squad for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Shukla also backed the existing leadership group, pushing back against calls for changes within the setup.
