Assam to Add Up to 20,000 Police Recruits and 5,000 Promotions: CM Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced plans to recruit between 15,000 and 20,000 new personnel into the Assam Police force. Alongside the recruitment drive, around 5,000 promotions are also expected to be carried out within the department. Sarma highlighted that the force has made notable progress in recent years, with the conviction rate rising sharply from approximately 8 per cent in 2020 to 29.30 per cent currently. The announcement reflects the state government's push to strengthen law enforcement capacity across Assam.
