Why Retrieval Quality, Not the LLM, Often Limits RAG System Accuracy

A RAG system can produce a fluent, confident answer even when the document containing the decisive evidence was never retrieved. Retrieval-augmented generation is simple to describe but harder to build reliably, since locating text on a topic differs from locating the evidence needed to answer a specific question. The article argues that search relevance and answer relevance are distinct, so a semantically related passage may still omit the condition that determines the correct response. Chunking strategy is also a data modeling decision: splitting documents at fixed sizes can separate exceptions from the rules they modify, and losing headings or context can make retrieved values misleading. Because retrieval is frequently the real point of failure, upgrading the model or tweaking prompts may add cost without fixing the underlying problem.

Managing Separate Git Identities and SSH Keys for Multiple Clients on One Laptop

Freelancers working for several clients on one machine often hit problems like commits signed with the wrong email or rejected SSH authentication. A recommended fix organises projects into folders per client and uses Git's conditional includes so that the folder a repository sits in determines which identity applies. Each client gets a small config file setting their name and email, and an SSH command that forces a specific key. Separate SSH keys per GitHub account are needed because the platform identifies users by key. The setup reportedly takes about twenty minutes and can be checked with git config --show-origin.

AegisKernel Claims Deterministic Defense Against AI Agent Tool Hijacking

Autonomous AI agents built on frameworks like CrewAI, LangChain, and AutoGen increasingly have direct access to filesystems, terminals, and databases, raising the stakes of prompt injection attacks. The developers argue that guardrails relying on secondary LLMs miss over 80% of adversarial payloads and add more than 300ms of latency. Their proposed tool, AegisKernel, instead enforces a zero-trust, deterministic runtime at the syscall boundary using taint tracking and capability grants. In their own audit, standard agent setups were exploited across four attack vectors, while AegisKernel blocked them in under 0.05ms, though these results are self-reported. The project is released under an MIT license with a public GitHub repository and a live web sandbox.

Browser Sound Recording: Using MediaRecorder, Silence Trimming and a Small WAV Encoder

A DEV Community guide explains how to let users record their own sound clips directly in a web browser. Simple recordings often suffer from a half-second of silence at the start, an unwanted tap sound at the end, and inconsistent formats across devices. The tutorial walks through requesting microphone access only on a user action, recording with MediaRecorder using a browser-supported format, decoding the audio, trimming silence and normalising volume. It concludes by encoding the result as a 16-bit WAV file that can be played, downloaded or uploaded. The approach is said to work in current Chrome, Firefox and Safari, provided the page is served over HTTPS or localhost.
