Designing bookmarks that users can find again later

A save button records a link but often fails to help people locate it weeks afterward, which is the real challenge for personal knowledge tools. The article proposes a record that separates the resource's URL from user-supplied context such as the purpose of saving it, its intent, and keywords. It recommends keeping optional fields minimal, with a single prompt asking what the item will be used for, so capture does not become tedious. Showing the user's note alongside titles helps distinguish similar items, and automatic labels should be treated as editable suggestions rather than replacements. The author suggests testing by having people save resources and later retrieve them without reminders, measuring whether they can confidently reuse them.

KeptTools Offers Free Developer and Image Tools That Run Entirely in the Browser

A developer built KeptTools, a set of free online utilities that process content locally rather than uploading it. The collection includes JSON, JWT, SQL, and encoding tools for developers, plus image tools for conversion, cropping, compression, and background changes. Work is performed by JavaScript on the page, and no account is required. Closing the tab ends the session without storing files for processing on the company's servers. Some features download a small AI model on first use, but the user's photos are not sent to the server.

BidReady AI Aims to Simplify Government Tender Review for Small Businesses

BidReady AI is an AI-assisted tool built to help small businesses and contractors review government tender documents before deciding whether to bid. The tool extracts eligibility conditions, financial criteria, registrations, and certificate requirements while keeping each one linked to its source page for verification. It also compares those requirements against a company's available evidence, runs deterministic financial checks, and generates a structured report flagging possible gaps. The project's creators say it is meant to speed up initial review rather than replace professional judgment or guarantee eligibility. The open-source tool is built with React, TypeScript, and FastAPI and is being presented as a submission for a Hacktoberfest AI challenge.

Testing supabase-js Code In-Process with Vitest and tinbase, No Server Required

Supabase app tests typically either mock supabase-js, which skips real database rules like RLS and constraints, or run against a live backend that needs Docker or a cloud project. This guide proposes a third approach: running a Supabase-compatible backend inside the test process itself. The setup uses tinbase, an alpha open-source backend that runs on PGlite, Postgres compiled to WebAssembly, and it is intended for development and testing rather than production. supabase-js is pointed at the backend through a custom fetch function, so requests reach real Postgres without any ports or network. The example shows a notes table with row-level security and a check constraint, verified by Vitest tests that create authenticated anonymous users and confirm that invalid inserts are rejected.
