Anthropic Uncovers UAE-Linked Influence Campaign Using Claude AI on Sudan Conflict

AI company Anthropic has detected a coordinated influence operation linked to the UAE that exploited its Claude chatbot. The campaign was primarily directed against the Muslim Brotherhood and focused on shaping narratives around the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Operators used Claude to produce a range of content, including reports, advocacy materials, social media posts, and fabricated testimony. Anthropic identified and disclosed the operation as part of its efforts to monitor misuse of its AI tools.
