Complete guide to optimizing SVG icons for improved web performance

SVG icons are widely used for web interfaces due to their scalability but often carry performance penalties if not optimized. Unoptimized files from design tools contain metadata, redundancies, and inefficient paths that increase file size. Optimizing these icons reduces page load times, lowers bandwidth usage, and improves rendering speed. The process involves simplifying artwork, stripping unnecessary code, reducing path precision, and using tools like SVGO. Final steps include leveraging compression and proper caching when serving the icons.
