170 volunteers clear 43,000 lbs of trash from Bexar County dumping site

Around 170 volunteers successfully removed approximately 43,000 pounds of trash from a long-standing illegal dumping site near Converse in Bexar County, Texas. The site had previously served as an encampment and had been the subject of complaints for several years. Bexar County had initially received a cleanup estimate of $100,000 before nonprofit River Aid San Antonio stepped in to organize volunteer-led efforts. The community-driven initiative significantly reduced what would have been a costly municipal cleanup. A final cleanup drive at the site is scheduled for November 7.
