111 Indian Legislators Switched Parties Since 2022, Nagaland Leads: ADR Report

A total of 111 Members of Parliament and state legislators have changed their political parties since 2022, according to a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). Nagaland recorded the highest number of such switches among all states. The cases documented by ADR include individual defections, party mergers, and resignations followed by bypoll victories. Disqualifications followed by winning a seat in a subsequent bypoll were also counted among the instances. The report highlights the continuing trend of political realignment among elected representatives across India.
